Play and Learn Team: Holly Nowak

Hello Everyone! I’m Holly, it’s lovely to meet you all! I’d like to share a wee bit about myself so that you can get to know me better. I have recently joined Nottingham Contemporary, and I am absolutely delighted to be here. I have been running workshops for families, children, and SEN groups in different spaces across Nottingham, maybe we have played together before!

I love creating, making, and exploring with new faces; our workshops and family sessions inspire me to find new and exciting ways of working, communicating, and mainly playing, and having fun.

I am an artist who makes sensory textile installations, illustrated stories, short films and textile characters and monsters. I love telling stories and exploring fantasy worlds, these often inspire my creative work, and make day-to-day life feel a wee bit more playful. I love colour, soft textures, and anything shiny.

I grew up in Scotland by the seaside, maybe you have noticed my accent?! I enjoy being outdoors and near water. I love the river in Nottingham, it’s a great place to read stories, play on the grass with friends or draw. My other hobbies include playing in a local netball team, yoga, listening to music, going to art shows and workshops with friends. I am looking forward to the workshops we will enjoy together and hope to see you at one soon!
