New Futures in the Making A Loudspeaker project Winter/Spring 2022
This book presents the outcomes of creative explorations over nine weeks made by a group of women living in the East Midlands.
The women explored the exhibition Our Silver City, 2094 at Nottingham Contemporary and experimented with a range of materials and methods to make their own interpretations. They also visited a local community growing project at St Ann’s Allotments.
Together they discussed ideas about art, climate change, their relationships with the city and nature, and what the future in 70 years may bring.
The Loudspeaker programme is delivered by Nottingham Contemporary as part of the national Building Better Opportunities programme though the Opportunity and Change project, which is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund.
There have been fifteen projects in the programme so far. Women are offered a supportive, caring environment to help see things differently, feel positive about the future and move on from challenging circumstances.
Loudspeaker sessions are an opportunity to take a break, develop routines, build confidence, become inspired, and meet new people.
