Based at Primary Studios in Nottingham, Popova explores painting "outside the frame". At Nottingham Contemporary, her first solo show in a UK public gallery, she has created ambitious new works, including a large installation of barely there paintings, where visibility becomes a political stance. Popova's work uses many materials and draws on different types of production, from ceramics to a computer-generated code work that generates an infinite sequence of images based on Euro banknotes. Popova’s work draws on the different histories of abstraction, from vanishing forms to the abstractions of capital.
