Wed 9 Aug, 5pm–6pmJoin us for a Wednesday Walkthrough – a gallery tour where artists, experts, researchers and academics give short talks in their field of expertise relating to the concepts explored in our exhibition.
In this walkthrough, Saziso Phiri will explore the artworks in Kresiah Mukwazhi's exhibition Kirawa. Saziso will guide us through the artist's style of painting, choice of canvas and materials, and how they represent resistance and care whilst challenging colonial aesthetics.

Saziso Phiri is a Nottingham-based curator, producer and writer born to Zimbabwean parents. She is currently Associate Artistic Director at New Art Exchange. She founded The Anti Gallery (2016-2022), a pop-up initiative focused on engaging art outside formal gallery environments. During its four-year phase, the platform delivered around 30 events, including exhibitions, performances, artist talks, residencies, film screenings, workshops for children and adults and print editions.
Saziso has worked nationally and internationally for and in collaboration with organisations that include Sadler’s Wells, Nottingham Contemporary, Backlit Gallery, UK New Artists, City Arts Nottingham, Sheffield DocFest, Jerwood Arts, Attenborough Arts Centre, Nuart Festival, Sheffield Museums, and Format International Photography Festival. She has also been a visiting lecturer for BA and MA Fine Art students at Sheffield Hallam University and De Montford University.
