Nottingham Palestine Film Festival 2026: ‘48 | Resisting the big settlement
Join us as Nottingham Palestine Film Festival presents: ‘48 | Resisting the big settlement.
Filmed in the summer of 2022 in the occupied West Bank, this documentary is an attempt to express the daily experience of people excluded by the apartheid regime, describing different aspects of the Israeli occupation. Stories recorded in Nabi Saleh, Hebron, Jenin and Sheikh Jarrah culminate in a collective narrative of Palestinian resistance as an everyday practice.
The idea for this documentary was born after two trips to occupied Palestine and through the film-makers interactions with local freedom fighters. “Bring our voices out” was the answer to the question “what can we do as a movement of solidarity with Palestinian resistance?”.
Content warning: This film depicts scenes of military attacks, violent arrests and forced displacement. References are made to the killing of loved ones, kidnap, imprisonment and restricted movement. This film is PG rated.
Nottingham Palestine Film Festival is a community group working for the dissemination of the culture and history of Palestine and its diaspora. It believes in storytelling and beauty as forms of resistance. Established in 2025, it operates in Nottinghamshire and the English Midlands, relying on a non-hierarchical collective in which decisions are taken democratically following a shared vision and shared objectives. Its membership is open to anyone willing to contribute to its aims while maintaining its horizontal modus operandi. Roles and responsibilities are allocated according to individual availability, skill, and/or desire to learn. The main events revolve around the cinema of Palestine. However, the group aims to also disseminate other forms of Palestinian culture, including music, food traditions, visual arts, and any other manifestation of Palestinian cultural practices.
