Nottingham Green Partnership Exhibition
The Green Partnership Exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary kicks off a weekend of Climate Assembly action, inviting local people to share their thoughts on Nottingham’s future.
Striving for our city to be a good place to live for future generations to come, we ask: “What would we like the environment of Nottingham to be and how can we move towards it? How do we build a sustainable future for our city?”
On Saturday the 9th of May, Nottingham Green Partnership - part of Nottingham Citizens Climate Assembly, will present a vibrant pop-up exhibition, showcasing a sample of local climate action activity, and inviting visitors to have their say in Nottingham’s future. This fun, free entry, and thought provoking one-day event welcomes people of all ages to find out more about the environmental challenges facing the city, and how some organisations are already positively shaping Nottingham’s greener future.
There will be free, interactive art and planting activities, with audiences invited to share their thoughts through creativity, discussion and writing. From a pop-up bicycle powered cinema to installations from local art students, the exhibition will feature a broad spectrum of responses across various fields and practices. Come and add your ideas to the exhibition’s ‘Vision Wall’ - and feed into the vital consultation happening as part of the Climate Assembly weekend. The Manifesto formed from these recommendations will then be put to leaders and decision makers in the city and wider region, who have pledged to listen and respond.
The weekend’s exhibition is hosted in partnership with Nottingham Climate Assembly, Nottingham Green Partnership, Nottingham Trent University, and Nottingham Contemporary.
The Wider Climate Assembly weekend
What is a Citizens Climate Assembly? Nottingham is aiming to be the first Carbon Neutral City in the country by 2028, building on our long history of national leadership on environmental issues. Nottingham Climate Assembly is working with local residents to hold a Citizens’ Assembly about the future of Nottingham’s environment.
Sixty people from across the city have been selected to take part, exploring the question: “What would we like the environment of Nottingham to be in the future, and how can we move towards it?”. The thoughts and recommendations of the people will feed into a Manifesto, and be put to Nottingham Green Partnership, Nottingham City Council, local MPs and the East Midlands Mayor, decision makers and leaders who have pledged to listen and respond. Those who were not selected for the assembly can still attend the public exhibition and offer their feedback and responses there. This exhibition offers the chance for everyone to contribute to the Manifesto. The Assembly is being organised by Nottingham Climate Assembly, a not-for-profit run entirely by local volunteers, on behalf of the Nottingham Green Partnership. The Partnership is a group of around 40 organisations and businesses across the city working towards CN28, Nottingham’s goal of being the first carbon neutral city in the UK by 2028. This activity runs across three days in May 2026, starting with the public exhibition on Saturday 9th May, then two Assembly days on Sunday 10th May and Saturday 16th May.
