We invite you join us in a collaborative workshop and discussion with Nottingham’s artist-led spaces to share resources and expertise in pathways into self-organised creative projects with young creatives in the city.
This session is held at Nottingham Contemporary with 1525 Collective, Backend, Chaos Magic, 4/4 Collective, Kuhle Wampe, and facilitated by BACKLIT resident, Amelia Seren-Roberts. We encourage participation from all different levels of experiences - everyone has something to learn from one another. Together we will work to devise a working document to act as a rough guide for accessing routes into these positions.
About backend:
Backend is a series of sessions around the UK, looking at the logistics and processes of how artist-led organisations work - “our backends” - because they are important for structural change as opposed to performing short term solutions. Through sharing practice, experiences and aspirations, together we aim to devise some sort of collaborative “code of conduct” that can be used as a public resource and to hold ourselves accountable.
1525 Collective (formerly known as Collabor8) is a group of young people that meet up regularly at Nottingham Contemporary. They shape and help run programmes of events, courses and projects, developing useful skills along the way. Their ambition is to connect with people across the city, develop new and exciting ways of working together, and to take on the issues that matter to young people.
We want to hear from you. As part of the group you can develop your own creative practice and knowledge of the arts sector, and build your collaborative and leadership skills and experiences.
