We proudly support artists at different stages of their careers, from presenting first-time solo shows in the UK or Europe of upcoming artists, to surveys of internationally renowned figures.

Unlike many museums we don’t hold our own collection, but believe that commissioning is one of the most valuable opportunities we can provide to artists. We commission at different scales and across many different forms, from sculpture and film, to performance, writing and research, across the majority of our exhibitions. Many of our comissions are later acquired by national collections and have been pivotal in the development of an artist's practice.

Through commissioning, we aim to provide space for artists to explore new thinking, while supporting their ambitions through close curatorial dialogue.

You can be part of this exciting process and the development of a brand new artwork by joining our Commissioning Circle. We ask for a commitment of £16,000 across two years (two annual installments of £8,000), which opens up opportunities to form a close relationship with our curators and exhibiting artists and access to special events.
