Our film programmer Niki Harman gets together with Kevin Lu from University of Essex, Professor of Psychosocial and psychoanalytic studies to talk all things Jung, film and the Shadow.

They delve into a selection of the films from The Screen at Contemporary's current season 'Into the Shadows', and discuss the personal and collective unconscious and what lurks in the darkness.

Kevin Lu, PhD, is a professor and head of the department of psychosocial and psychoanalytic studies, University of Essex. His publications include articles and chapters on C. G. Jung’s relationship to the discipline of history, Arnold J. Toynbee’s use of Jungian psychology, critical assessments of the theory of cultural complexes, sibling relationships in the Chinese/Vietnamese diaspora, racial hybridity, and Jungian perspectives on comics and film. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Kevin now resides with his family in Kent.
