Activity: DIY Family Festival at home (Free materials)

Your support is vital

A small one-off or regular donation helps us present free exhibitions, events and education programmes across the city, up and down the UK, and around the world.

To celebrate the end of our summer programme the Play & Learn team hosted a 3 hour live streamed festival. Full of making, music, dancing, performance, poetry, and fun, all in your own homes! For those that couldn’t make it, or those that want to do it again, just follow the team to do all of the activities.

You will need your FREE material pack that has everything you need. You can turn any space into a festival space, decorate, make, and have fun!

You can collect your family festival pack from Nottingham Contemporary, this contains the activity materials, wrist bands and lanyard, or we can pop them in the post for you. There are limited numbers, so please email ljacques@nottinghamcontemporary.org to request your pack!

Any day can be a festival day, indoors or outdoors. Sunglasses, coat and wellies at the ready? Then let’s get started!

A fence with 'Home Fest 2021' written on it with bunting.
A child looking out of an open window with a menu written down on the closed window next to it.
A child placing a blanket on a clothes dryer.
An adult and a dog sat down outside together.
A hand-written sign stating 'Cinema' with an arrow pointing upwards.
A child smiling wearing a necklace made out of cupcake cases.
5 pieces of card laid out on grass.

If you wanted to watch some of the performances, download the playlist here for a selection of our favourites.

Everything you need for a festival at home is here. Get your coat and wellies on, get those sunglasses out, and be festival ready.

Whatever the weather this will be one festival going ahead!

Tips at home:

  • Make a clear space for making and then for dancing
  • Some children might need support or supervision for the activities
  • Some of the materials require adult supervision for children aged under 3

Don’t’ forget we want to see and share how you have done your DIY Family Festival! You can share your spaces with us at #NCmaking.
