Thanks to all the families who helped us make it into the top 20 Telegraph Family Friendly museums and galleries long list earlier this year. Find out how you can enjoy your visit to us as a family with some of our hands on activities.

Family Weekends

Family Extravaganzas
11am - 3pm The Space. Free, drop in
Join us in the ginormous Space for Nottingham Contemporary's family extravaganzas. These friendly family events are for everyone - from tiny tots to young adults. There will be making and playing and all sorts of characters to help you enter the world of imagination.

The Family Room
All the weekends in between our family extravaganzas.
11am - 3pm The Studio. Free, drop in
Open the door on Level 2 and drop into Nottingham Contemporary's family room - a place to draw, read, relax and create art inspired by the exhibition. This space is dedicated to families - we welcome both small and big people. Enjoy some time together.

Borrow An Explorer Bag!
During Gallery Opening Times. Free
Become an exhibition explorer – and set out on a quest through our galleries. Children can put on one of our colourful Explorer’s Backpacks – it’s full of games, toys, activities and bright ideas that bring our exhibitions to life for all the family. It’ll guide you all through the art, on the most exciting routes possible. Just ask – we’d love to lend them to you!

How to get to us

Main bus operators and the tram offer discounted travel to families and groups including:

Group Tram Tickets (the Grouprider) can be bought on tram and allow 2 Adults and up-to 4 Children (under the age of 16) to travel all day as much as you like for £8.

NCT Day Group/Family : All day bus travel within the City Area, Covers up to 5 people (minimum 1 adult, maximum 2 adults) School Days: £8, Weekends and Holidays: £4, Weekday Evenings (after 17:00 until Christmas) £4.
