Exploring Printmaking

Adult Creative Short-Course

10 Apr 2018 - 01 May 2018

Join Nottingham Contemporary associate artist Chris Lewis-Jones for a fun, hands-on creative course exploring printmaking with elements of frottage, collage and drawing.

Explore our current exhibition, The House of Fame, and respond to notions of place and identity with and reference to the use of lace in particular.

The House of Fame exhibition stretches from the 1600s to today, gathering together the worlds of art and architecture, fashion and theatre, music and design thorough photo montage, graphics, costume and performance. These subjects will be explored using combinations of printmaking with elements of frottage, collage and drawing, with plenty of conversation thrown in as we go along.

Although the emphasis will be on process, we shall also aim to produce a series of mixed media prints that will be exhibited in the studio at Nottingham Contemporary in the final session of the course. This course aims to give you effective use of hand printmaking techniques and skills which can be easily replicated at home without expensive equipment or specialist knowledge.
